Tyler Kocon’s AdvisorOne interview: Small energy companies with takeout potential

by Michael Tarsala

Some small oil and gas exploration companies have two potential trends in their favor:

Growth on thier own and takeout potential from the Exxons (XOM) of the energy world.

“They go from one well to two wells, and all of a sudden they (grow) 100%, ” said Tyler Kocon, manager of the Bakken Shale model, in an exclusive interview with AdvisorOne.com.

Kocon acknowledges that he’s investing in a volatile sector, with companies that face performance, operational and regulatory risks.

Yet he also talks about the growth — and the buyout potential — for some small stocks in the group.
