U.S. Markets End the Week Higher on Positive Financial Results (ORCL, RIMM, HOG, MEE, IPG)

Yesterday, after the market closed, Oracle Corporation (NASDAQ: ORCL) announced their quarter one 2011 financial results, which were generally positive. Their GAAP total revenues were up 48 percent year-over-year and their GAAP net income was up 20 percent. Research In Motion Ltd (NASDAQ: RIMM) also released some positive financial results after the close yesterday, for quarter two 2011. They announced a 31 percent increase in revenues year-over-year and a 56 percent increase in BlackBerry subscriber accounts.

The Department of Labor released their Consumer Price Index Summary for August 2010 today. It reported that the consumer price index (CPI) all urban consumers rose by .3 percent in August but the core CPI was unchanged, which leads some economists to become concerned about deflation. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 13.02 points to 10,607.85 while the Nasdaq rose 12.36 points to 2,315.61. The S&P 500 rose .93 points to 1,125.59.

European markets were down on Friday and Asian markets were mixed.
